Infographic

Wow, this project was a challenge for me! I often tell my students they are "thinking too hard" and this was a perfect example of that. I was not familiar with this type of information graph and had a hard time figuring out where to create it. In the end I decided to go with MS Word since I was familiar with the program. After I got started, it really wasn't as hard as I was making it. I chose to do my infographic on Native People of North America because that is what we are studying in social studies. I think this would be a great end of unit project for them to complete on a tribe or to have them use the infographic to compare two tribe.

  1. I really like the idea of creating a time line as an infographic. Not only are you able to view facts about Native people of North America, but you have added in more interesting details and pictures that support the main idea of the project. With learners that need the added color and pictures to deepen the connection, this is a great way to present information as well as use it as an assessment for students to create. (Not to mention this is just another way to introduce and reinforce citing resources.) After reviewing so many online, as well as creating one, I saw this whole inforgraphic thing as a graphic organizer on steroids.

  2. I have never used Word for this type of project. I am impressed at your finished project, it looks awesome. I really like the timeline and think it would be a great way for students to see the progression of events. I also agree that finding a clear direction and topic was the toughest part of this process. Once I figured that out, everything else went pretty quick.

    1. I have to agree Mr. Cissell, I am impressed at the finished product using Word. I hate using Word for these types of things. I might use Publisher, but even then it makes it more challenging to create a jpg or png.

  3. First off, I just want to say thank you for posting yours early. I searched a ton of infographics online but seeing yours really helped me. I use MS Word all the time for things like this but you an outstanding job! I used glogster to try something new. I feel it gives more freedom to move items around without telling the picture to be "behind text" or " in front" etc.

  4. I really like the layout of your project. I agree this would be a great way to end a project or add to throughout a long unit. I just like creating a lot of information in a small package.

  5. awesome infographic! The layout and graphics are easy to understand, flow well, and are very visually appealing! The graphic contains a lot of information in a small, concise presentation - as Stacia said, this would be a great project for the end of a unit or chapter and would be an awesome study tool when prepping for a test. I love how you used the infographic to relay historical information as opposed to just statistics. Great job!

  6. I think your infographic turned out awesome. It reminds me of a poster project that I saw a second grade class do on native Americans a few years ago (yours is much more professional looking of course!), but I can imagine using infographics in a higher grade, like with my 4th graders and up, to create an amazing looking timeline like this too!
